Energy Efficient Systems

Energy-efficient hydraulic systems are critical for reducing overall power consumption and optimising lifecycle operating costs. At Hyserve, system design is driven by a detailed understanding of actual load demand, duty cycles, and dynamic system behaviour.

Rather than sizing systems for peak conditions alone, we engineer solutions that closely match hydraulic power generation to real-time demand. This includes analysing duty cycles to ensure pumps, actuators, and control strategies are optimised for both active and idle phases of operation.

A key focus is the reduction of inefficiencies during dead time and low-demand periods. Through the integration of variable speed drives, flow and pressure are continuously adjusted to minimise energy losses when full output is not required.

Further efficiency gains are achieved by minimising pressure drops through optimised piping layouts and manifold design, alongside the strategic use of accumulators to store and reuse energy during transient peak demands.

The result is a highly responsive hydraulic system that delivers power precisely when required, maximising efficiency, reducing heat generation, and extending component life.

CYTROPAC

Rexroth Cytropac is a compact and versatile power unit designed for hydraulic systems, and is engineered for exceptional energy efficiency. Known for its modular design, Cytropac offers a flexible and customisable solution to meet a wide range of application requirements.

By integrating variable-speed pump drives alongside intelligent control systems, Cytropac adjusts it's power output to precisely match the demand of the application. This on-demand power delivery significantly reduces energy consumption compared to traditional fixed-displacement pump systems, especially during periods of low activity or idle time.

CYTROBOX

Rexroth Cytrobox marks substantial progress in energy-efficient hydraulic power units, designed to minimise energy consumption through its intelligent control system, variable speed pump drives, and on-demand oil delivery. By only providing the exact amount of oil required for each specific task, the Cytrobox significantly reduces wasted energy and heat generation.

As well as reducing operating costs, this efficient performance also contributes to a smaller carbon footprint, making it a sustainable choice for businesses looking to optimise their energy usage and environmental impact.

CASE STUDY

CytroPac Energy Efficient System

The Cytropak was introduced as a replacement for the existing brake actuation unit, providing an energy-efficient solution ideally suited to low-duty cycle applications. The original system operated continuously, resulting in unnecessary energy consumption, increased wear, and higher operating costs.

By contrast, the Cytropak operates on demand, delivering hydraulic power only when required. This shift in operating principle significantly reduces energy usage, minimises system wear, and lowers maintenance requirements. The compact, self-contained design also simplifies installation and integration into the existing system.

As a result, the customer benefits from improved overall system efficiency, reduced downtime, and measurable operational cost savings. In addition to the immediate financial advantages, the reduced energy consumption supports the customer’s wider sustainability objectives by lowering the system’s environmental impact.
