Subsea Junction Boxes

Subsea Junction Boxes (SJBs) are critical interface units used to connect, distribute, and protect electrical and communication systems in subsea environments. Designed to operate reliably under extreme pressure and harsh conditions, they act as central connection points between topside control systems and subsea equipment.

Manufactured from high-grade materials such as stainless steel or duplex alloys, these units provide robust environmental sealing and long-term corrosion resistance. The junction boxes are air-filled and approved for operation at depths of up to 150 metres seawater (150 msw), ensuring dependable performance in demanding offshore applications.

Internally, they house electrical terminations, connectors, and instrumentation components in a compact, organised layout to maintain signal integrity and simplify integration. The design is also easily scalable, allowing configurations to be adapted to suit a wide range of project requirements and system complexities.

CASE STUDY

Subsea Junction Boxes

A total of 48 junction boxes were designed and manufactured for a major oil and gas operator, delivering a robust and scalable solution for field signal integration and monitoring. Each unit was equipped with a Siemens PLC, enabling reliable processing of both analogue and digital signals across the system.

The junction boxes were engineered to support seamless communication with the wider control infrastructure via CAN bus, ensuring efficient data transmission and real-time system visibility. This architecture allowed for improved monitoring, faster fault detection, and enhanced operational control in demanding environments.

Designed with durability and performance in mind, the solution met the stringent requirements of the oil and gas sector, providing high reliability in harsh operating conditions. The modular and standardised approach also streamlined production and installation, ensuring consistent quality across all 48 units while reducing deployment time on site.
